Every penny was shared with relief
groups and Filipino American organi-
zations for essential food, shelter and
medical services.
AARP members’ generous donations
and on-the-ground help also eased suffer-
ing of people in several states.
>In Oklahoma, nearly $680,000 was
given to local organizations to assist
victims of ‘monster’ tornadoes through
the generosity of members and a
matching contribution of AARP Foun-
dation.
>In Colorado, AARP presented the
American Red Cross with a check for
$25,000 to help residents recover and
rebuild from historic flooding.
>In South Dakota, after an early October
blizzard devastated livestock herds,
AARP donated $10,000 to help ranch-
ers recover from their losses.
In Illinois, AARP staff members pitched in
to help residents of the town of Washing-
ton try to recover items from their homes
