2013 AARP ANNUAL REPORT — 21
AARP is leading the way in creating opportu-
nities for people to get the care and support
they need, where and how they want it.
Independence, safety and the comfort of
communities suited to people of all ages
are all aspects of real possibilities.
MESSAGE TO CAREGIVERS:
You’re there for Mom.
We’re here for you.
Family caregivers provide the back-
bone of care to people who need help
with daily tasks such as cooking, driving
and medication management. One of
AARP’s highest priorities as a social mis-
sion organization is making it easier for
the nation’s 42 million family caregivers
to get the information and support they
need to cope.
The hub for this information—the on-
line AARP Caregiving Resource Center—
logged more than 11 million page views
in 2013. Many people found the site via
public service ads from AARP and the Ad
Council, which reassured caregivers that
they are not alone in juggling caregiving
with their own needs.
AARP also expanded outreach to
African Americans, Hispanics and
Asian Americans who care for loved
ones, in order to connect them to sup-
