AGAINST SCAMS
Identity theft, investment fraud and
other schemes rob millions of older
Americans of at least $3 billion every
year. Building on decades of scam-busting
efforts, AARP launched the Fraud Watch
Network in October to help even more
people protect their money. Tools includ-
ed an information-packed website, a TV
ad featuring a fast-talking con artist and
email alerts about emerging scams.
EMPOWERING PEOPLE TO
SECURE THEIR FUTURES
A new, sustainable approach guided
AARP’s efforts to help people put their
experience to work. The strategy was to
serve as a bridge between job-seekers,
MULTIMEDIA: Catchy videos showed
how identity thieves work.
61,500 seniors are phoned each year
by volunteer fraud-fighters with AARP
Foundation about scams in their
communities.
