2013 AARP ANNUAL REPORT — 33
EMPLOYEES GIVE BACK
AARP employees are a great group of
people dedicated to making life better
for all. In 2013 they dug deep in their
hearts and donated nearly $1.4 million to
nonprofit organizations around the U.S.
through the annual AARP Employee Giv-
ing Campaign. Many colleagues donated
to the employee crisis fund, or took ad-
vantage of the Association’s “Community
Builders” program—giving 7,700 hours
of paid time away from work in service
to nonprofit organizations. In addition,
nearly two-thirds of AARP employees
gave back to their communities during
AARP’s 13th annual Day of Service.
HONORING VETERANS
AARP’s successful 2013 Veteran’s
Day membership campaign resulted in
$142,000 in donations to the USO War-
rior and Family Care programs.
The Create The Good® website attracted
more than 660,000 visits and 3,970,000 page
views from individuals seeking volunteer
opportunities in their communities.
