Reports Record First Quarter 2004
Results
Columbia Sportswear Company today
announced record first quarter net sales of
$206.7 million for the quarter ended March 31,
2004, an increase of 22.4 percent over net sales
of $168.9 million for the same period of 2003.
The Company reported record net income for
the first quarter of $20.0 million, a 34.2 percent
increase over net income of $14.9 million for
the same period of 2003. Earnings per share for
the first quarter of 2004 were $0.49 (diluted) on
41.0 million weighted average shares, compared
to earnings per share of $0.37 (diluted) for the
first quarter of 2003 on 40.4 million weighted
average shares.

Columbia Sportswear Announces
New Distribution Strategy for
Norway and Iceland
Capitalizing on increased business prospects
and opportunities for brand expansion in
Norway, Columbia Sportswear Company
today signed a distribution agreement with
Portland Norge AS to distribute Columbia and
Sorel products in both Norway and Iceland.
Distribution will commence with the spring
2005 product line.

Reports Record Third Quarter 2004
Results
Columbia Sportswear Company today announced
record third quarter net sales of $415.8 million for
the quarter ended September 30, 2004, an increase
of 11.4 percent over net sales of $373.4 million for
the same period of 2003. The Company reported
record net income for the third quarter of 2004
of $68.6 million, a 7.9 percent increase over net
income of $63.6 million for the same period of
2003. Earnings per share for the third quarter
of 2004 were $1.68 (diluted) on 40.9 million
weighted average shares, compared to earnings
per share of $1.56 (diluted) for the third quarter of
2003 on 40.8 million weighted average shares.

Columbia Sportswear Company today
announced record second quarter net
sales of $171.1 million for the quarter
ended June 30, 2004, an increase of 12.5
percent over net sales of $152.1 million for
the same period of 2003. The Company
reported record net income for the second
quarter of $10.7 million, a 13.8 percent
increase over net income of $9.4 million for
the same period of 2003. Earnings per share
for the second quarter of 2004 were $0.26
(diluted) on 41.1 million weighted average
shares, compared to earnings per share
of $0.23 (diluted) for the second quarter
of 2003 on 40.6 million weighted average
shares.

Announces new Management
Appointments
Columbia Sportswear Company today
announced changes in its management
staff. Paul Gils has been appointed General
Manager Europe and Mike Prendergast has
been promoted to President Sorel Division.
As General Manager Europe, Gils will be
responsible for managing all aspects of sales,
marketing and administration of Columbia
products in Europe. He joins Columbia
following a ten year career with Nike Europe,
most recently serving as General Manager
Footwear, Germany. In Prendergast’s role as
President Sorel, he will manage all aspects
of the Sorel apparel and footwear brand.
Prendergast brings more than 30 years of
industry experience to his new role.

Columbia Sportswear Celebrates
Dedication of New Kentucky
Distribution Center
With the pull of a lever, Gert Boyle,
Chairman of Columbia Sportswear
Company, Kentucky Congressman Ed
Whitfield and Kentucky Governor Ernie
Fletcher today commenced the official
dedication of Columbia’s new Robards,
Kentucky-based distribution center.
Columbia, a global leader in the active
outdoor apparel and footwear industries,
anticipates this facility to be operational in
January 2005. The facility will primarily
house footwear from Columbia and its
subsidiary brand, Sorel.
