Ubisoft is a member of the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) in the United States and
Canada, the ISFE (Interactive Software Federation of Europe) and the SELL (Syndicat des Éditeurs
de Logiciels de Loisirs) in France, and agreed to the PEGI (Europe) and ESRB (United States)
classification systems.
b) Relating to the development of policies supporting the sector
The Group benefits from on public policies supporting the sector, particularly in France, Canada and
Singapore.
The development of public policies is therefore a significant risk factor for the Company, which must
conduct appropriate lobbying actions to maintain current provisions and predict developments when
choosing the geographical locations in which to base itself.
c) Relating to the development of fiscal policies
The modification of fiscal rules, tax rates and regulations in terms of transfer prices are important risk
factors for the Company. It is only possible to anticipate these risks by a constant monitoring of the
possible developments.
1.7.2.3 RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
Given the importance and intrinsic value of its brands, the Company has taken the necessary
measures to protect its portfolio of commercial brands at global level for all the products and services
that it operates, including but not limited to video games, interactive applications, ancillary products
and audiovisual works, as well as the other intellectual property rights that it holds:
Procedure for checking the pre-existence of brands proposed for games at European and
international level, registration of brands and domain names of games designed at European
(OHMI), US (USPTO) and international (OMPI) level, registration of titles of audiovisual works
(movies, series), particularly with the MPAA in the United States.
Legal monitoring of brands that are similar or identical to those of the Company and that have
been registered by third parties at a global level.
Legal monitoring of potential Company copyright violations.
A team dedicated to anti-piracy and copyright infringement, whose task is to carry out
technology monitoring, advise development teams and coordinate action between the various
internal and external teams. The Company regards the risk of piracy as a growing risk and it
will consolidate its measures with regard to this.
Copyright infringement pressing civil claims in criminal proceedings where applicable, or via
any other available criminal or civil avenues, and measures against hackers in order to obtain
the removal of games illegally put online.
