1.4.3.3 SUSTAINABLE USE OF RESOURCES
1.4.3.3.1 Water consumption and supply
Taking into account the Group’s business activities, it only uses water for domestic purposes
(cleaning, toilets, kitchens, etc.). Although Ubisoft’s water consumption is low, the Group strives to
monitor this indicator to measure the impact of the good practices implemented at its sites and the
information campaigns conducted internally.
In 2013, the Group measured consumption
12
of 48,595 m

, which breaks down as follows:

To reduce their consumption, many sites are using low-consumption taps or taps with automatic shut-
off and low-consumption toilets and sanitary equipment. These sites include Italy, Germany, the
United Kingdom, Canada (Toronto, Montreal), China (Shanghai), Morocco, Romania, Sweden, the
United States (Cary, NC), and Australia.
Some sites have also implemented simple measures to encourage employees to limit their water
consumption; for example, in Japan, information e-mails are sent out regularly.
In addition, as water is supplied directly by local water distribution networks, the Group therefore
complies with applicable national regulations regarding supply.
1.4.3.3.2 Use and management of consumables
At present, of the consumable purchases listed by the Group, only paper consumption is significant.
All sites are made aware of the ecological impact of paper consumption. They take advantage of
municipal or government programs to recycle their paper through waste sorting at their premises or
collection areas such as those in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Australia, Korea, Switzerland
and the United Kingdom. Many sites use outside specialists, including Canada, the United States and
France.
In 2013, the Group’s paper consumption was as follows:
Quantity consumed
(in kg)
Number of sites concerned
Representativeness of
sites concerned as a
percentage of Group staff
Paper
52,427
36
87.3%
This consumption represents approximately 6.8 kg of paper per employee per year.
During 2013, 21 sites
14
prioritized consumption of recycled paper, some of which opted to consume
100% recycled or certified paper (FSC, PEFC, etc.) including Bulgaria, Australia, France and Sweden.
12
Data for 25 sites, representing 51.5% of Group staff. The scope for this indicator is limited because most sites did not have
precise information as at the closing date, due to the fact that their water consumption is included in service charges managed
by lessors. It should be noted that the consumption measured does not include consumption relating to water bottles used in
water fountains.
