Management Report
2014

1.4.3.1.2 Informing and training employees
Ubisoft does not have an information and training program at Group level for environmental issues.
Employee information and training is organized locally by each subsidiary. At the end of December
2013, there were 36 employees in charge of environmental management across the seven sites
3
.
They conducted nine information campaigns at Ubisoft sites during the 2013/2014 financial year,
raising awareness of environmental issues among more than 3,800 employees.
The main activities carried out were as follows:
- The Shanghai studio organized an e-mail campaign before employees go on leave to
encourage them to switch off computer equipment. In addition, the San Francisco site
conducted a communication campaign reminding employees to switch off their computers
at the end of the working day.
- The German subsidiary made its teams aware of energy use via e-mail campaigns,
stressing in particular that they should limit their use of air-conditioning in the summer, turn
off computers when finishing work and limit the amount of paper used for printing.
- The Osaka studio organized a meeting to inform its employees of office waste sorting.
- The Abu Dhabi studio deployed an awareness campaign entitled “I am Responsible”
informing employees about food waste and saving electricity and paper.
- The Bucharest studio organized two mailing campaigns during the financial year to
encourage employees to save energy.
- The EMEA registered office published a series of videos entitled “Good resolutions” on the
Group’s internal video hosting platform. These videos particularly encourage employees to
save paper, use video conferencing systems, only print out useful e-mails, recycle paper,
batteries, cans and computer hardware, and switch off computers at the end of the
working day.
At the same time, Sofia
4
is continuing with the campaign it implemented in the previous financial year
to make new employees aware of environmental issues, by including an environment section in the
documentation given to new arrivals. This section places particular emphasis on the recycling system
in place at the studio.
1.4.3.1.3 Preventing environmental risks and pollution
Ubisoft’s definition of environmental risk is based on the GRI definition
5
.
The Group’s own activities do not present any significant industrial and environmental risks since the
Group does not manufacture the video games (and associated ancillary products) it publishes and
distributes.
Nevertheless, the Group remains alert to regulatory changes in countries where it is present.
The Group’s main expenses and actions relating to environmental protection are presented in greater
detail in the “Pollution and waste management” and Sustainable use of resources” sections of this
report.

“An environmental risk refers to the possibility of incidents or accidents occurring that are caused by the activities of a
company, which may have harmful and significant repercussions for the environment. Environmental risk is measured by
considering the probability of occurrence of an event (risk) and the level of danger.”
