Management Report
2014
37
The production facilities of Ubisoft’s assemblers in the EMEA zone are all ISO 9001 certified, which
means that they comply with the “Safety and quality” process and hold ISO 14001 certification relating
specifically to the environment.
1.4.4.3.3 Outsourcing
From time to time, Ubisoft employs individuals under freelance contracts (particularly for artistic
services), seasonal contracts and temporary contracts. Peripheral activities at certain sites (security,
cleaning, computer maintenance, etc.) are subcontracted to external companies.
1.4.4.4 FAIR OPERATING PRACTICES
1.4.4.4.1 Preventing corruption
The Group was not the subject of any lawsuits, fines or non-financial sanctions for non-compliance
with laws and regulations in 2013/2014.
Several sites have implemented internal anti-corruption procedures:
- Implementation of tender procedures that systematically require at least three supplier tenders
to be received (Sofia), or that require several approval levels in order to validate tenders
(Newcastle, Kiev).
- Nomination of an individual dedicated to monitoring money laundering (in line with the
Bulgarian legislative system) (Sofia).
- Validation of all expenditure by the studio director (Milan, Casablanca, Barcelona).
- Official Purchasing codes of ethics drawn up to protect against corruption (France, Montreal).
These codes of ethics refer to the guidelines (fairness, impartiality, integrity, legality, loyalty,
honesty) and illustrate situations that may give rise to conflicts of interest and Ubisoft’s policy
with regard to buyers.
All sites now have an expenditure procedure that defines principles for authorizing and approving
expenditure depending on the amount in question. In the case of the most significant purchase flows,
these processes are realized directly within tools (Peoplesoft for purchases relating to the production
of finished products and Mint for purchases relating to marketing).
1.4.4.4.2 Consumer health and safety
To date, neither the Group nor its sites have engaged in any actions specifically focused on consumer
health and safety.
However, the Group complies with applicable standards and legislation in relation to its products in
order to inform its consumers and ensure their safety. The production and distribution teams work
closely with ratings and consumer protection organizations, the most important of which are:
- PEGI (Pan European Game Information) for Europe
- ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) for the United States
- OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification) or COB for Australia
- USK (Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle - in English, Entertainment Software Self-
Regulation) for Germany
- CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization) for Japan
