Attracting young international managers
In , we oered international traineeships to more than  students from
AIESEC, the worlds largest student organization. Over  of the trainees were
subsequently appointed to permanent positions within the Group.
Executive development
e Group oers executives specially tailored development programs as well as an
International Business Leadership Program which takes place ve or six times a year
at various locations. e objective of this program is to develop and network selected
executives around the globe.
Effective internal talent pipeline
Our aim is to identify early on and then leverage the talents of our employees. To this
end, Deutsche Post World Net has set up an internal talent pipeline that is a key tool
for succession planning and providing support for hiring from within the company
to ll vacant positions. Information is collected on the performance, potential and
future employment possibilities of all Group executives. is data is compiled each
year during “motiv” – our Group-wide performance management system. e
quality of the information collected in this way has improved greatly. As a result,
appropriately-qualied internal applicants can now be recommended for nearly all
vacant positions. In ,  of job openings in the second and third management
levels were lled from within the company. e talent pipeline is our eort to ensure
that our employees reach their goal of a career within the Group.
Sustainability
The environment, people and society
Sustainable business practices are a key part of our Group’s strategy. Our guideline
in these eorts is our Code of Conduct, which was introduced and became binding
in . is code is based on international agreements and guiding principles such
as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Labour Organization
Conventions, and the United Nations Global Compact.
Recognized by the capital markets
Our commitment to sustainability has been noted and well received by stock markets.
In , we were included in the DJSI STOXX, the respected Dow Jones sustainability
index. e FTSEGood Index also conrmed our company as a member. We are
similarly included in the Advanced Sustainability Performance Index Eurozone
maintained by the French rating agency Vigeo and listed in the KLD Global Climate
 Index. Our climate protection eorts earned us the top rating in the air freight
and courier services category from the Carbon Disclosure Project. www.cdproject.net
