5 AARP 2012 YEAR IN REVIEW
So, we committed to rebuilding and
restoring prosperity to middle-class
families by:
Helping experienced workers
find a way to succeed in today’s
challenging workplace;
Slowing the growth in health care
costs, in part to make Medicare
sustainable;
Strengthening Social Security by
restoring long-term solvency with
adequate benefits;
Finding ways to help close the
savings gap as people prepare
for retirement; and
Reducing the federal deficit, but
not by jeopardizing the security
of future generations.
At the same time, we launched a new
online AARP Caregiving Resource
Center where America’s 45 million
caregivers could find information to
make their task a little easier.
Our vision at AARP is a society in
which everyone lives with dignity
and purpose, with access to
affordable, quality health care and
the opportunity to achieve lifelong
financial security.
With the engagement and support
of our nearly 38 million members,
including 19.4 million who joined
or renewed in 2012, we marched
onward toward reaching that vision.
