13 AARP 2012 YEAR IN REVIEW

An extensive online Caregiving
Resource Center (www.aarp.org/
caregiving) made available a
treasure trove of resources in both
English and Spanish.
In a three-year collaboration with
AARP, the nonprofit Ad Council
promoted these free resources
by distributing public service ad
materials to 33,000 media outlets
nationwide. Reaction was positive.
By year’s end, the caregiving website
achieved 3.2 million page views.
HUNGER RELIEF
Thanks in part to a small army
of 30,000 dedicated volunteers,
more than 20 million meals were
donated to people 50+ in 2011
and 2012 as part of Drive to End
Hungeran initiative of AARP and
its largest charitable affiliate, AARP
Foundation.
AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES
When its easy for people of all ages
to walk, drive and bicycle safely,
communities thrive. Thats why
AARP launched its Network of Age-
Friendly Communities in afliation
with the World Health Organization.
Staff and volunteers began
working with government officials,
businesses and community leaders
to make improvements that will help
residents remain healthy, active and
engaged. AARP began piloting the
network in the District of Columbia
