21 AARP 2012 YEAR IN REVIEW
Robert G. Romasco
(President). Robert
Romasco of Burke,
Virginia, is AARP
President. He serves as
the Association’s
principal volunteer spokesperson,
representing AARP to its members
and the public. He is a member of
the Governance Committee and the
Compensation Committee. Mr.
Romasco is experienced in strategy,
marketing, brand development and
organizational change. His
professional career includes tenure as
senior vice president of customer,
distribution and new business
development for QVC Inc.; executive
vice president and chief marketing
officer for CIGNA Inc.; president and
chief executive officer, J.C. Penney
Insurance; and senior vice president,
American Century Investments. Mr.
Romasco serves on the board of
Eastwood, Inc., and previously served
on the boards of the Eugene Bay
Foundation, Trusted ID, Inc., and the
AARP Andrus Foundation.
Jeannine English
(President-Elect).
Jeannine English, CPA,
MBA, of Sacramento,
California, has
experience in
government integrity, legislative
redistricting, campaign finance and
political reform. As AARP President-
Elect, she chairs the AARP National
Policy Council and is a member of
both the Compensation Committee
and the Audit and Finance
Committee. Previously, she was the
volunteer president of AARP
California. Now retired, Ms. English
was a founding partner of Lehman
English Kelly and O’Keefe, executive
director for the Commission on
California State Government
Organization and Economy (the Little
Hoover Commission), assistant
executive director, California
Transportation Commission, and
financial auditor, California
Departments of Finance and Health
Services. Ms. English was the
campaign committee president for
the successful California Redistricting
Commission Initiative and co-chair of
the California Open Primary Initiative.
Gail Aldrich (Board
Chair). Gail Aldrich,
SPHR, of northern
Nevada, is chair of the
AARP Board of
Directors. In this
capacity, she chairs both the
Governance Committee and the
Compensation Committee.
Previously, Ms. Aldrich was chief
membership officer for the Society
for Human Resource Management
(SHRM), senior vice president and
chief administrative officer for the
California State Automobile
Association, vice president of
administration and corporate
secretary of the company now known
as Exponent and vice president of
human resources for the Electric
Power Research Institute. She has
served on several boards and has
chaired the boards of SHRM,
Good360 and Lytton Gardens, which
assists low-income seniors.
