Excelsior College. Ms. Georges
serves on the Governance
Committee and on the AARP Services
Health Products Quality Review
Committee. Previously, she was a staff
nurse, team leader, supervisor and
district manager for the Visiting
Nurse Service of New York. Ms.
Georges is president of the National
Black Nurses Foundation.
Jewell D. Hoover.
Jewell D. Hoover is a
former bank regulator
from Charlotte, North
Carolina. She serves on
the Audit and Finance
Committee and the AARP
Nominating Committee. Now the
president of Hoover and Associates
LLC, a bank consulting firm, she
worked for 28 years as a bank
regulator and senior spokesperson
with the U.S. Office of the
Comptroller of the Currency.
Previously, she taught in the West
Virginia and Baltimore City (Maryland)
Public Schools. She began her
working life as a clerk typist for the
U.S. Coast Guard. Ms. Hoover’s
current board service includes Fifth
Third Bancorp and the University of
North Carolina Center for Banking
and Finance.
Raymond Dean Jones.
Raymond Dean Jones is
a former sitting judge
from Denver, Colorado.
He serves on the
Governance Committee.
He devoted over 32 years to the
Denver District Court, the Denver
County Court, the Aurora Municipal
Court (as chief judge) and the
Colorado Court of Appeals.
Previously, Mr. Jones was a litigator in
a large Denver law firm, doing
corporate and commercial
transactions, and clerked for the chief
justice of the Colorado Supreme
Court. Mr. Jones is of counsel to The
Holt Group LLC and is a certified
arbitrator and mediator. He co-
founded the Sam Cary Bar
Association and also volunteers with
the Denver and Colorado Bar
Associations, the Colorado
Alzheimer’s Association and the
NAACP Youth Chapter.
Timothy M. Kelly. Tim
Kelly is a retired
newspaper executive
from Lexington,
Kentucky. He serves on
the Governance
Committee and the AARP
Nominating Committee. He retired in
2011 as president and publisher of
the Lexington Herald-Leader, a
position he held for nearly 15 years.
Before that, he held key news and
editorial management positions in
several top newspaper companies.
Following his retirement, Mr. Kelly
became senior adviser to the CEO of
iHigh.com, a video website for youth
activities. He served three terms on
the board of the YMCA of the U.S.A.
and has been involved in two dozen
civic and charitable organizations.
Jacob Lozada. Jake
Lozada, PhD, is an
independent
management consultant
from Fairfax, Virginia. He
serves on the Audit and
Finance Committee and the AARP
Nominating Committee. He is a
member of the Andrews Federal
Credit Union Budget Committee and
serves on the boards of the
Association of University of Puerto
Rico Alumni and Friends Abroad and
the national Medical Music Group.
Earlier in his career, he was senior
advisor for diversity strategies at the
U.S. Office of Personnel
Management, assistant secretary of
the Veterans Administration, principal
at Booz Allen & Hamilton,
management consultant at EDS and a
U.S. Army colonel. Opportunities in
education, mentoring and public
speaking are significant in his
volunteer efforts.
J. David Nelson. Dave
Nelson, MBA, is a
business leader from
Old Greenwich,
Connecticut. He serves
on the Governance
Committee and is chair of the AARP
Foundation Board of Directors. After
a 33-year career at IBM, Mr. Nelson
pursued an encore career as chief
operating officer of the National
Foundation for Teaching
Entrepreneurship. For his work with
NFTE, Mr. Nelson was named a 2006
Purpose Prize Fellow. He is vice chair
of the board of VaporStream, a
Chicago-based software firm, and
serves on the boards of CenterLight
