grew from 80,000 to 1 million
during 2012.
AARP’s YouTube channel jumped
from 100,000 video views in 2011
to 8 million in 2012.
AARP DATING LAUNCH
Meeting potential partners used to
mean hanging out at singles bars
or suffering through a blind date.
Today’s dating scene is often online.
To make it more personal, AARP
teamed up with HowAboutWe.
com to connect people with similar
interests on real dates. This activity-
based approach focused on making
the online part easier so people
can begin enjoying what they like to
dotogether.
HELP FOR SUPERSTORM
SANDY VICTIMS
AARP’s charitable affiliate, AARP
Foundation, raised more than
$1 million to assist victims of
Superstorm Sandy. AARP provided
a $550,000 match. On behalf of the
AARP Foundation Hurricane Relief
Fund, AARP President Rob Romasco
presented a $500,000 check to Gail
McGovern, president and CEO
of the American Red Cross. The
remaining funds went to nonprofits
providing direct assistance to
victims in seven states.
