9 AARP 2012 YEAR IN REVIEW
Having enough money to last a lifetime is one of the biggest challenges
facing people 50+. Over the past generation, more and more of the middle
class have fallen off the cliff into economic insecurity—due to lack of job
opportunities, rising health costs, declining home values and flat wages.
Throughout 2012, AARP helped individuals and their families stretch the
value from every dollar through advocacy, information, service and
member benefits.
BILLIONS IN
HOME ENERGY SAVINGS
Residential consumers saved $1.8
billion on home energy bills, thanks
to vigorous “watchdog” efforts by
AARP staff and volunteer advocates.
Because energy costs are a burden to
millions of struggling adults, AARP is
one of the few national organizations
fighting on consumers’ behalf.
SAVING
AARP helped
consumers save
on home
utility bills in 2012.
