Director Since: 2012 (Also served as a director of the Company from 2003 until 2009)
Committees: Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee; Member of the Safety and
Compliance Committee; Audit Committee Financial Expert.
Principal Occupation: Andersen Alumni Professor at Brigham Young University
Experience: Mr. Albrecht, a certified public accountant, certified internal auditor, and
certified fraud examiner, joined the faculty of Brigham Young University in
1977, after teaching at the University of Illinois and Stanford University. At
BYU, he served as director of the School of Accountancy (from 1990 to
1999) and as associate dean of the Marriott School (from 1999 to 2008). He
served as the President of the Japan Tokyo Mission of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints from July 2009 to July 2012. Professor Albrecht
has also served as the President of the American Accounting Association,
the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and Beta Alpha Psi. He has
also served as a member of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of
the Treadway Commission (also known as ‘‘COSO’’); the Financial
Accounting Standards Advisory Committee, an advisory committee to the
Financial Accounting Standards Board (the ‘‘FASB’’) and the Governmental
Accounting Standards Board (the ‘‘GASB’’); and the Financial Accounting
Foundation that oversees the FASB and GASB. Mr. Albrecht has consulted
with many major corporations and other organizations and has been an
expert witness in 35 major financial statement fraud cases.
The Board recognizes Mr. Albrecht’s valuable contribution as a director of
the Company from 2003 through 2009 and since his re-election in 2012,
including his service as the Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee.
The Board nominated Mr. Albrecht because of his exceptional academic
and professional record, his many achievements, awards and other forms of
recognition in the accounting profession, his extensive training in accounting
practices and fraud detection, and his outstanding past service on the board.
Other Directorships: Mr. Albrecht currently serves as a director of Red Hat, Inc. and Cypress
Semiconductor.
