In closing, 1999 marks Samsung Electronics’ 30th year in business. Given that the
average corporate life span in the U.S. and Japan over the past century has been about
30 years, we are taking nothing for granted. As we enter our fourth decade, we are
now more dedicated and focused than ever on preparing for the 21st century. We
