premier partner in mutual-aid events.
Because we have a well-defined
process, are able to mobilize quickly
and work safely, other utilities ask for
assistance from Xcel Energy by name.
Other Xcel Energy employees are
hard at work at less visible but equally
important tasks—from keeping power
plants on line during a hot summer to
ensuring the accuracy of regulatory
requests or financial reports to
helping customers with service or
billing questions. We appreciate their
work and do our part to reward them
with fair compensation and benefits.
We’re also focused on workforce
engagement as well as diversity and
inclusion efforts. We want to give
Xcel Energy employees the tools and
environment they need to do their
best work and feel good about
their efforts.
ADDRESSING
THE CHALLENGES
OF THE FUTURE
As we look to 2013 and beyond,
we will rely on the fundamentals
that have always contributed to our
success: strong financials, operational
excellence, satisfied customers,
environmental leadership, community
partners and outstanding employees.
That solid foundation will enable
us to tackle the challenges ahead.
One of those challenges is to
continue to finance the unprecedented
investments we’re making in our
business. To accomplish that, we
are working hard to make sure our
customers and other stakeholders
truly understand and appreciate the
value we bring and the investments
we are making on their behalf.
Successfully navigating a looming
generational transition is another
challenge. Over the next 10 years,
half of our workforce is expected to
retire when they are eligible. We are
working hard to not only capture their
knowledge before they go, but also
leverage the opportunity to do things
more efficiently and effectively.
Finally, we appreciate you and the
trust you’ve placed in us. Thanks to
many of you who helped us address
the dividend tax issue by contacting
your members of Congress. With
that issue settled, we look forward
to many additional years of building
shareholder value. Again, we will be
there for youwhen it matters most
and every day in between.
Sincerely,
Ben Fowke
