goodwill is regularly tested for impairment using the
same procedures as for the goodwill of subsidiaries.
Other long-term investments include in par-
ticular investments in unconsolidated subsidiaries,
financial instruments and other equity investments.
In accordance with IAS 39, they are assigned to the
available-for-sale category. They are carried at their
fair value, where this can be measured reliably, and
if this is not the case,they are carried at amortized
cost.
Loans are classified as loans and receivables
originated by the enterprise and are carried at amor-
tized cost.
