Columbia Sportswear
Completes Acquisition of
Mountain Hardwear, Inc.
Outdoor apparel and footwear leader
Columbia Sportswear Company
announced today that it has completed
its previously announced acquisition of
Mountain Hardwear, Inc. The aggregate
consideration was approximately $36
million, including approximately $30
million in cash and $6 million in debt
assumption. A wholly owned subsidiary
of Columbia Sportswear merged with
and into Mountain Hardwear effective
March 31, 2003. As a result of the
merger, Mountain Hardwear is now a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Columbia
Sportswear.

Company Reports Record
First Quarter 2003 Results
Columbia Sportswear Company, a global
leader in the active outdoor apparel and
footwear industries, today announced
record first quarter net sales of $168.9
million for the quarter ended March
31, 2003, an increase of 17.9 percent
over net sales of $143.3 million for the
same period of 2002. The Company
reported net income for the first quarter
of $14.9 million, a 65.6 percent increase
over net income of $9.0 million for
the same period of 2002. Earnings per
share for the first quarter of 2003 were
$0.37 (diluted) on 40.4 million weighted
average shares, compared to earnings
per share of $0.22 (diluted) for the first
quarter of 2002 on 40.0 million weighted
average shares.

Dutch Authorities Seize
Imitation Columbia
Sportswear Product at Port
Last November, Dutch Customs at
the Port of Rotterdam seized 2900
imitation Columbia Sportswear
Company jackets bearing the
label “Solumbia” and featuring
a simulation of the well-known
“Columbia diamond” trademark.
The goods were impounded under
European Union anti-piracy
regulations as the perpetrators were
attempting to transport the goods
from Hong Kong to Germany.

Forces to Offer New

Vehicles
Columbia Sportswear Company
and the Jeep® brand announced
today that they are teaming up to
offer the new limited-production
“Columbia Edition” Jeep Grand
Cherokee, Liberty and Wrangler.
Available in both the United
States and Canada, vehicles will
begin arriving at dealerships
this fall.

Columbia Sportswear Signs
License Agreement For
Home Furnishings
Columbia Sportswear Company
announced today that is has signed
a license agreement with PEM
America for the design, manufacture
and marketing of a new Home
Furnishing collection – bed linens
and pillows, comforters, throws,
mattress pads, blankets and bath
accessories. The assortment will
debut for the 2004 season.

Record Third Quarter
2003 Results
Columbia Sportswear Company, a
global leader in the active outdoor
apparel and footwear industries,
today announced record third
quarter net sales of $373.4 million
for the quarter ended September
30, 2003, an increase of 12.6 percent
over net sales of $331.5 million
for the same period of 2002. The
Company reported record net
income for the third quarter of
$63.6 million, an 11.8 percent
increase over net income of $56.9
million for the same period of 2002.
Earnings per share for the third
quarter of 2003 were $1.56 (diluted)
on 40.8 million weighted average
shares, compared to earnings per
share of $1.42 (diluted) for the third
quarter of 2002 on 40.2 million
weighted average shares.

Sorel Signs License
Agreement with Crescent
Hosiery for Socks
Sorel, a division of Columbia
Sportswear Company announced
today that it has signed a North
American license agreement with
Crescent, Inc. for the design,
manufacture and marketing of
men’s, women’s and children’s
socks. The Sorel branded sock
collection will be available for fall
2004.
