In the opinion of the directors, the results of the operations of the Group and of the Company during the financial year have not
been affected by any item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature apart from the exceptional items disclosed in note
6 to the financial statements.
2 Transfers to/from Reserves and Provisions
There were no other material transfers to or from reserves or provisions during the financial year except as disclosed in the financial
statements.
3 Dividends
The final dividend paid during the financial year in respect of the previous financial year and included in the previous directors
report was $186.3 million.
An interim dividend of 15.0 cents per $1 ordinary share, less tax at 25.5% , amounting to $136.9 million, was paid on 22 November
2000. The directors propose that a final dividend of 20.0 cents per $1 ordinary share, less tax at 24.5% , amounting to $184.2
million, be paid.
4 Principal Activities
The principal activities of the Group and of the Company consist of air transportation, engineering services, airport terminal
services, training of pilots, air charters and tour wholesaling and related activities. There have been no significant changes in the
nature of these activities during the financial year under review.
