Establishment of Sales Facilities around the World
As part of its efforts to strengthen sales, the Brother Group has established subsidiaries in Taiwan, Indonesia,
Vietnam and Peru, that are expected to deliver long-term economic growth and feature increased consumer
spending.
These newly established companies will engage in the sales and servicing of communications and printing
devices and domestic sewing machines. In the past, we conducted sales in these regions through local
sales agencies, but now these locally incorporated companies will conduct community-based sales, servicing
and marketing activities that should increase sales and raise awareness of the Brother brand.
Introduction of the Brother Document Viewer,
Launching a New Business in the Field of Network Imaging Devices
Based on progress in the networking environment and the increase of
mobile workers, we envision rapid changes in customers’ lifestyles and in
the way they work in the near future. Brother views these market and social
changes as opportunities to develop a new business by providing the tools
that support a safe and reliable work environment at any place, any time.
As one of these products, we developed the Smart E-Viewer, which is small,
thin, lightweight and energy efficient. This viewer went on sale in Japan in
June 2009. The Brother Document Viewer SV-100B is only about 1.5 cm
thick. The viewer can be used as a form of electronic paper. The viewer has
a large 9.7 inch screen for displaying digital data, yet is easily portable.
This device can save information equal to 10,000 A4 pages, thereby
contributing significantly to a reduction in paper consumption. The display
uses energy only when it changes pages and provides approximate 83 hours
(5,000 pages worth) of continuous use. A data encryption feature enables
the user to carry data securely.
Being able to sort, save and carry large amounts of information that can be
quickly accessed, such as manuals for maintenance workers, makes this a
product with a wide range of uses.
Sales of the SV-100B began in Japan, and we are developing product-related
marketing activities to release this product overseas.
This viewer can store the equivalent
of 10,000 A4 pages of data.
