to rap, country to classical,
blues to baroque, oldies to
American standards. Our
ever-growing artist family,
including Wynton Marsalis, will
also contribute to our unique
ability to bring music to life.
Entertainment to the
Power of X: XM will also
provide amazing talk, news,
sports, comedy and children’s
programming through
partnerships with entertain-
ment icons like USA Today,
CNN, NASCAR, Discovery
Communications, the Country
Music Hall of Fame, Sesame
Workshop, Clear Channel
Communications, Firesign
Theatre and National Lampoon.
• Marketing to the Power of X: XM is aiming for one of the
most memorable national consumer media campaigns and
product launches. We will leverage the brand power of our auto
partners, led by General Motors; fifteen radio manufacturing
partners; along with America’s largest electronics retailers,
including Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears and RadioShack franchise
dealers, plus other leading retailers serving key regional markets.
• Management to the Power of X: XM has continued to build
a deep and experienced management team across operations, pro-
gramming and marketing that has driven the near-flawless execution
of our business plan and raised gross proceeds of $1.5 billion,
funding XM through its commercial launch and into 2002.
• Partnership to the Power of X: XM’s initial team of
strategic partners, including General Motors, Clear Channel
Communications and DIRECTV, have continued to demonstrate
their passion for our product and strategy – our partnership
power was further enhanced by a $50 million strategic investment
by American Honda.
Taken together, all these X-Factors add up to one thing:
as we set the pace in establishing a new medium.
Our success in executing puts us on schedule for the first com-
mercial broadcast of our satellite radio service in summer 2001.
We are deeply grateful to you for sharing our vision… of digital-
quality sound, coast-to-coast coverage and up to 100 channels of
audio choices… and deeply committed to focusing the full force
of the Power of X to enhance your success as our shareholders.
