Navy Federal Annual Report 2006 15
14
At the Naval
Academy,
everyone told
Dick Corpus good
things about Navy
Federal. Later on, he vis-
ited Hong Kong, and
there was Navy
Federal—plus he knew
there was also an office
in Italy. “Thats why I
joined 29 years ago.
It’s a family business,
family being the Navy.
They understand Sailors
going out to sea and
being separated from
their families. And they
give you the flexibility
you need.
Now that he has a
wife and two children,
Captain Dick Corpus,
who just recently retired
from the naval subma-
rine force, finds that
Navy Federal continues
to provide him with
the flexibility to pursue
his familys love of
adventure without wor-
rying about managing
his money. That explo-
rative nature got its
start when Dick met
his wife-to-be Kim in
Hawaii. He was seeing
the world with the
Navy, and she was an
Iowa farm girl who
imagined visiting exotic
places and was a travel-
ing nurse. Their chil-
dren, Hunter and
Alexis, grew up over-
seas as
the Navy moved Dad
around. They rode
elephants in Thailand,
traveled to the Great
Wall of China and
visited Hiroshima and
Caines, Australia.
Navy Federal provid-
ed flexibility, from
access to offices and
ATMs throughout the
Pacific to monitoring
their credit cards
for fraud when they
shopped in Hong Kong.
Today, the Corpus
family is still on the
go with family trips,
sports, scouting and
treks to the beach
across the street from
their home in Coronado,
CA. Hunter, 13, and
Alexis, 10, are saving
for college by putting
all the money they
receive as gifts and
earn for doing chores
into their share savings
accounts.
