Founded in 1978, The Home Depot®is the world’s largest home improvement retailer and the third largest retailer
in the United States, with fiscal 1999 sales of $38.4 billion. At the close of fiscal 1999, the Company was operating
930 stores, including 854 Home Depot stores, 15 EXPO Design Center®stores and 2 Villager’s HardwareSM stores
in the United States; 53 Home Depot stores in Canada; 4 Home Depot stores in Chile; and 2 Home Depot stores
in Puerto Rico. In addition, the Company was operating wholly-owned subsidiaries Apex Supply CompanySM

, Maintenance Warehouse®and National Blinds and WallpaperSM
. The Company employed
approximately 201,000 associates at the end of fiscal 1999.
The Company has been publicly held since 1981. The Home Depot stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange
under the ticker symbol “HD” and is included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.
