e total remuneration paid to the active members of the Board of
Management in nancial year  including the components with
a long-term incentive eect totalled . million (previous year:
. million). Of this amount, . million (previous year:
. million) is attributable to non-performance-related compo-
nents ( annual base salary and fringe benets), . million (previ-
ous year: . million) to performance-related components (vari-
able components) and . million (previous year: . million) to
components with a long-term incentive eect  s. e number
of  s was ,, (previous year: ,,).

e remuneration of former members of the Board of Management
or their surviving dependants amounted to . million in the year
under review (previous year: . million). e increase compared
with the previous year was the result of two extraordinary items that
will not impact the above line item on a permanent basis: rstly, the
non-recurring payment made to Roger Crook, which is described
in the remuneration report, and secondly, the increase in the num-
ber of retirees whose pension benets fell due but for whom no new
obligations were incurred in . ose obligations were previ-
ously included in the provisions to be recognised for the pension
fund members. e dened benet obligation  for current
pensions calculated under s was  million (previous year:
 million). e decline in the  versus the prior year was
mainly due to an increase in the  discount rate.
    
e total remuneration of the Supervisory Board in nancial year
 amounted to around . million (previous year: . million);
as in the prior year, . million of this amount was attributable to
a xed component and . million to attendance allowances.
Whereas, in the previous year, variable remuneration in the amount
of . million was paid for , the condition for payment of a
variable remuneration for  was not met in the year under review.
Further information on the itemised remuneration of the Board of
Management and the Supervisory Board can be found in the
Corporate Governance Report. e remuneration report contained
in the Corporate Governance Report also forms part of the Group
Management Report.
