Several years ago, Brother formulated “ Global Vision 21” to set goals for the kind of company we
want to become in 10 years. We then established strategies for three periods of three years each.
For CS B2008,” which is the second period, our central goal is to drive grow th. We plan to make
substantial investments to achieve further grow th in our Printing & Solutions business.
Concurrently, we w ill launch new businesses and support their development. These initiatives are
aimed at giving Brother a stronger base of operations.
During the first year of “ CS B2008,” we succeeded in developing our ow n engine for color laser
products. This was one of our highest priorities for the year. In addition, w e made a number of
investments aimed at starting and expanding new businesses. Due in part to the unexpected
strength of the euro, sales and earnings in the first year w ere w ell above our initial plan, w ith both
reaching all-time highs.
In the second year of “ CS B2008, which ends in M arch 2008, Brother w ill concentrate on making
more progress tow ard key goals in order to build a business portfolio that is structured for grow th.
