the pilot maintain the aircraft in a safe, flight-stable
condition. Garmin is therst manufacturer to make this
safety-enhancing technology available to business
and general aviation pilots.
Giving pilots fingertip access to flight planning
information is the primary goal of an application
developed by Digital Cyclone®, a subsidiary of Garmin.
Pilot My-CastSM by Garmin is compatible with the
iPhone® and iPod touch®. This application provides
premium aviation weather, flight planning and flight
filing capabilities for customers in the U.S. and Canada.
Pilot My-Cast customers range from student pilots
to executives of general aviation companies.
Seven years after its market introduction, the G1000
integrated flight deck is the most popular avionics
choice in the general aviation market. The G1000 adds
safety and situational awareness while removing
many of the gauges and instrument panel boxes
previously used. In 2010, Garmin received FAA
certification for a G1000 retrofit installation in the
Cessna CitationJet as well as the King Air 200. As
an example of the impact to the aircraft owner, this
retrofit on the Cessna CitationJet will result in up to
100 pounds of weight savings.

Proving patience, relationship building and continued
R&D investment pay off, the aviation segment saw
revenue growth throughout 2010. Garmin continued
to complete product certifications and win new OEM
customers in 2010, which positioned the company for
future growth when the aviation industry recovers.
In October 2010, Garmin announced its entry into
the Part 25 business jet market with the G5000
integrated flight deck designed specifically for crew-
flown turbine aircraft. The G5000 puts more useful
information at pilots’ fingertips than ever before:
worldwide weather, Garmin’s synthetic vision
technology (SVT), aircraft synoptics, electronic
flight charts and more. Cessna Aircraft Company is
the first aircraft manufacturer to announce selection
of the G5000 for their Citation Ten business jet.
Even in the well-established aviation segment,
Garmin found ways to diversify its product offerings
with the G500H all-glass avionics system for
helicopters. A derivative of the G600 and G500
for the fixed-wing market, the G500H has been
optimized for rotorcraft and offers features that
minimize operational risks. Those features include
helicopter synthetic vision technology (HSVT),
helicopter-specific databases with more than 7,000
heliports and nearly 30,000 additional low-altitude
obstacles, XM WX Satellite Weather with NEXRAD
and the ability to display video from a forward looking
infrared (FLIR) camera or other video sources. In
September, Garmin teamed up with Rotorcraft
Services Group, Inc. to obtain FAA certification for
installation of the G500H on three Eurocopter models.
With a goal of increased pilot safety, Garmin announced
a new stability augmentation system called Garmin
Electronic Stability and Protection (Garmin ESP) system.
This electronic monitoring and exceedance-correcting
technology for G1000 and G3000 flight decks helps
