1.1.4.2 Social projects
In addition to numerous internal events that mark the year and the day-to-day work of the teams, Ubisoft
offers its employees priority access to a wide range of leisure activities, sporting events and cultural outings.
For the Group, these various employee benefits are also opportunities to invite the teams to open
themselves to the world and heighten their curiosity.
A sponsorship program entitled “Sharing More Than Games” has now been running for four years, providing
management and other support for solidarity initiatives within the Group. This program ties in with individual
initiatives taken by employees as well as Ubisoft’s commitment to promoting access to education, culture
and leisure for children and young adults from deprived backgrounds or who are ill.
From human or financial contributions to partnerships, and including donations of games, this commitment
takes many forms and is designed to convey Ubisoft’s commitment to promoting access to education, culture
and entertainment for children and young adults from deprived backgrounds or who suffer from illness.
Ubisoft once again provided support this year for associations relating to children, including UNICEF, the
School Kit Foundation Drive in Pune, India, the Fondation Théodora in Spain, the Starlight Foundation in
Australia and the Aleimar Group in Italy. Fund-raising activities and direct action by employees on the ground
were also carried out within the framework of the Breakfast Club in Canada, an association that allows
almost 15,000 children each year to receive a healthy and balanced breakfast before beginning their day.
Ubisoft also knows how to take action to respond to emergencies. Following the earthquake in Haiti, several
studios organized collections of funds and clothing in collaboration with the Red Cross to provide aid to
survivors. The Sichuan region of China also suffered a devastating earthquake in early 2009; teams at
Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Chengdu set up the U.Care program so that the roof of a school and a
reservoir could be rebuilt. This targeted action is set to lead to further action, as the support program is to
continue in 2010! In total, over 60 charitable projects and initiatives were implemented in 2009 within the
Group.
