In the sporting arena, October 2002 saw
Qantas and British Airways confirmed as
the Official Airlines of the world’s third
largest sporting event - Rugby World Cup
2003. This is Qantas’ biggest ever
sponsorship commitment which includes
flying players, officials and tens of
thousands of fans to Australia.
Qantas became synonymous with the
future of Australian soccer in January 2003,
when it became naming rights sponsor of
all of the country’s national soccer teams.
This long term investment in Soccer
Australia builds on a partnership that has
been in place for many years.
QantasLink also worked with the National
Rugby League to implement the highly
successful QantasLink Rugby League Clinic,
an initiative that took star country-born
players back to their home towns to
encourage local children to take up the
game at the grass roots level.
