(g) Suspension of equity accounting
Our unrecognised share of (profits)/losses for the period and
cumulatively, for our entities where equity accounting has ceased
and the investment is recorded at zero due to losses made by these
entities and/or reductions in the equity accounted carrying amount,
is shown below:
Equity accounting has also been suspended for the following jointly
controlled and associated entities:
• TNAS Limited; and
• Telstra Super Pty Ltd.
There are no significant unrecognised profits/losses in these
entities.
(*) FOXTEL includes FOXTEL Partnership and their controlled
entities, FOXTEL Television Partnership, Customer Services Pty
Limited, FOXTEL Management Pty Limited and FOXTEL Cable
Television Pty Ltd.
A $108 million distribution was received from FOXTEL during the
year (2011: $70 million). This has been recorded as revenue in the
income statement and has decreased our cumulative share of
unrecognised losses in FOXTEL to $160 million after taking into
account Telstra’s share of FOXTEL’s profit for the year of $85
million and other adjustments of $5 million.
