At Cash America, we not only serve our customers, but we also serve
an industry that has spent decades shaking off a shadowy reputation. Since
our inception in 1984, we’ve taken an industry married to images of dark, seedy
street corners and turned it on its head.
From traditional pawn loans to the most updated Internet technology, we’ve
enhanced the process by which our customers can access necessary funds. This
spotlight on customer service has been the basis of our success from the beginning.
Pawn loans are nothing new. But the idea of a brightly lit, customer-centric store
staffed with friendly and knowledgeable customer service representatives was an
industry innovation. This kind of service propelled Cash America to the top of our
industry. As the first publicly owned national pawn chain, we developed a high-
end, truly customer-focused pawn business. In addition, we formalized operating
practices and inventory control systems that remain unmatched in our industry.
