A commitment to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions A record to be proud of! For four consecutive years, LG has been
designated as a member of Carbon Management Global Leaders Club by the Carbon Disclosure Project* of Korea. We aim to
reduce 30 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions at the product use level in 2020, compared to the emissions of 2007.
Growing green businesses Yes, green can be good for business. Take a look at the Zero Energy America Project™** in Tampa,
Florida, where a local builder has tapped into LG products to offer “net-zero energy” luxury homes. It’s just one way that
business is benefiting from LG’s leadership in R&D which covers LED lighting, solar power, water treatment, and smart grid.
Products people are proud to own Greenovation comes home! Our Smart Appliances have already been helping consumers
save on energy costs. In 2012, over 1,000 LG products were designated as ENERGY STAR by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA).
Promoting green growth with our suppliers Green work is teamwork! Our Green Program, first begun in 2005, has been
helping and supporting our suppliers to create their own green management systems. In 2010, we developed it into Green
Program Plus, expanding the scope of our support with even more vendors across our extensive ecosystem.
* Carbon Disclosure Project | An international non-profit organization which provides global systems for companies to measure, disclose, manage
and share vital environmental information.
** Zero Energy America Project™ | A project initiated by Marc Rutenberg, a U.S. based housing construction company, to build a zero energy house. Zero
energy house refers to a building designed to operate using net zero grid energy and ultimately offsets the total energy consumption.
Facilitating resources recycling We are making great progress in recycling
equipment. This year, we’ve expanded our successful take-back programs to
make electronics recycling more convenient than ever. Working with local service
providers, recyclers, and NGOs around the world, our programs comply fully with
e-waste regulations in each country. And we continue to increase the use of
recycled materials in some of our products and packaging.

“Greenovation” is the path we’ve set at LG to make sure our innovations have
sustainability as our core value. And we have created guideposts in five key areas
to direct us along the way: reducing greenhouse gas emissions, developing green
businesses, enhancing products with greener features, working with our suppliers,
and recycling resources. It’s a path destined to take us all toward a greener future.
