2015 Sustainability Goal Updates
Dow’s 2015 Sustainability Goals address a broad spectrum of commitments to our
stakeholders – our customers, employees, global communities, stockholders and
the environment. We take our commitments seriously and report quarterly on our
progress. A summary of our 2010 progress is below. More detailed goal descriptions
and complete reports can be viewed at www.dow.com/commitments.
Local Protection of Human Health and the Environment
GOAL: Achieve, on average, a 75 percent improvement in key indicators for
Environment, Health & Safety operating excellence from the 2005 baseline
Product Safety Leadership
GOAL: Publish Product Safety Assessments
for all products
Dow is committed to making Product Safety Assessments
(PSAs) publicly accessible for all of our products. At the end
of 2010, Dow had posted 330 PSAs to the Product Safety
page on www.dow.com.
In 2010, the Injury and Illness rate was
.32 per 200,000 hours of work. Although
this performance does not meet our
expectations when compared with our
2009 performance, it represents a more
than 35 percent improvement over 2005
performance levels.
Sustainable Chemistry
GOAL: Double the percentage of sales to 10 percent for products
that are highly advantaged by sustainable chemistry
The percentage of sales from products with highly advantaged
sustainable chemistry performance increased from 1.7 percent
in 2008 to 3.4 percent in 2009.
26 The Dow Chemical Company
At the end of 2010, 355 Loss of Primary
Containment (LOPC) incidents occurred,
translating into an annual rate that is
an improvement from 2009. This is more
than a 70 percent improvement over our
2005 baseline performance levels.
At the end of 2010, we recorded
45 Process Safety Incidents. This is
more than a 40 percent improvement
over 2005.
PSAs now cover products that
represent 69% of Company sales.
