Josef Hattig
Chairman of the Supervisory Board
Born 1931.
Josef Hattig trained as a commercial clerk be-
fore embarking on a degree course in law and
the state sciences.Following his second state law
examination,he was a junior judicial officer
(Gerichtsassessor) and management assistant,
and joined Dortmund brewery Thier & Co as
a director in 1965.In 1972 he moved to the
Bremen-based brewery Beck & Co.as managing
director, where he spent 25 years. In the fall of
1997 he became senator of Bremen,first respon-
sible for SMEs,technology and economic and
European affairs,and then in July 1999 for eco-
nomic affairs and the ports.
Josef Hattig was also president of the German
brewers’association and chairman of Bremen’s
chamber of commerce.In addition to his
other functions,Josef Hattig is the Chairman
of Deutsche Post AG’s Supervisory Board.
