Equity shares for Barclays Bank PLC differ from Barclays PLC by £11m (2003: £12m) due to treasury shares. Other assets for Barclays Bank PLC
differ from Barclays PLC by £153m (2003: £99m) due to ESOP shares. The balances reported in Notes 17 and 21 are for Barclays PLC. Additionally,
minority interests differ by £690m (2003: £nil). All these differences are matched by a commensurate change in shareholders’ funds.
