Wit h approximat ely 85 percent of
t he merchandise in our st ores coming
from nat ional- brand designers and
manufact urers, Federat ed places a
suitably high priority on building strong
relationships wit h our resources. We of fer
vendors t he best locat ions for premiering
unique merchandise, as well as for
present ing and selling t heir goods in a
manner t hat maximizes result s.
Backed by 170 years of retail know-
how, Federat ed has t he skills and agilit y
necessary t o capit alize on emerging
fashion t rends t hrough a myriad of
branded resources. In fall 2000, for
example, when cust omers came t o our
st ores f or trend- set t ing leather jacket s,
outfit s and accessories, our buyers select ed
and int egrat ed merchandise from dozens
of vendors t o make a st rong fashion
st at ement and deliver a broad choice of
st yles and price point s.
We also are “gift headquart ers f or many
of our cust omers. Our assortment s are
t ailored t o at t ract cust omers buying for
weddings, anniversaries, holidays and
ot her gift- giving occasions. And we are
leveraging t his st rengt h on t he Int ernet
t hrough our own e- commerce sites and
our relat ionship w ith WeddingChannel.com.
Having the best people
both on our selling floors and behind the scenes – is essential. Federated recognizes
exceptional personal performance annually through our Star Academy, which
celebrates a top sales associate and sales manager from each department store
division. These talented, dedicated individuals are the backbone of our business,
building customer relationships through a commitment to service and satisfaction.
