Our continuing, company-wide effort to improve work-
place and community safety is a core commitment and an
ongoing challenge that we work to address in the deci-
sions we make each and every day. We are dedicated to
identifying and reducing any safety risks associated with
our operations by reinforcing safe behavior among our
employees and strengthening management accountabil-
ity for ensuring safe behavior. Accordingly, LEGACY, our
company’s signature health and safety leadership training
program, is designed to equip managers at all levels with
the tools, skills, and leadership behaviors to develop a
culture of health and safety across our worldwide opera-
tions. Through this and related activities, we reduced our
employee lost-time injury rate (per million hours worked)
to 1.7, down 15% from 2012, underscoring our devotion
to achieving our global goal of zero incidents.
Building a culture of safety
CEMEX included in United Nations Global Compact 100 Stock Index
CEMEX was selected for inclusion in the UN Global Compact 100, a new global stock
index that combines corporate sustainability and baseline financial performance. It is com-
posed of a premier group of 100 companies based on their adherence to the UN Global
Compact’s ten principles, as well as evidence of their executive leadership’s commitment
and baseline profitability. CEMEX was the only Mexican company included in this index.
Carbon Disclosure Project recognized CEMEX for Best Disclosure
For the second consecutive year, CEMEX was named by the Carbon Disclosure Project
as the best Latin American company in terms of climate change data disclosure. The
rankings came from data disclosed on the emissions of greenhouse gases by 32 major
companies in five Latin American countries.
CEMEX chosen for Mexican Stock Exchange Sustainability Index
For the third consecutive year, CEMEX was one of the 28 companies picked to join this
exclusive listing. The criteria for inclusion included the company’s management and use
of natural resources, social responsibility with key stakeholders, including employees,
customers, suppliers, and communities, and corporate governance standards.
