Effective measures to improve
quality of care
Our Quality-in-Sights Hospital Incentive Program (Q-HIP)
rewards hospitals in our network for improvements in
patient safety, patient health and patient satisfaction.
In 2006, we introduced Q-HIP in New Hampshire.
Marion Percy, RN, BSN, is a nurse at Concord Hospital,
which participates in Q-HIP. Q-HIP hospitals are graded
using a 100-point scale, with the majority of the
overall grade related to clinical health outcomes.
Pay-for-performance programs such as Q-HIP have
been proven to reduce costs while improving the
quality of care — not only for WellPoint members
but for all patients.
