BLACK BELT ALL FROM TYCO ADHESIVES IN
FRANKLIN, KENTUCKY U.S.A.
THE MILLION-DOLLAR CHALLENGE
At a Tyco lean pilot course held at the Franklin, Kentucky, U.S.A., Adhesives plant, the
eight-person host team took part in Total Productive Maintenance, which involved
breaking apart and putting back together a machine used in the production of duct
tape. In the process, the team learned to minimize production downtime and prevent
future equipment breakdowns. This effort was part of several concurrent lean events
held over the course of a week, and in total, the teams identified and are on track to
reach a potential $1 million in savings.
