Annual Report 2007 10
Initiatives to Change the Corporate Culture
Changing the mindset of employees is of paramount importance in executing
successful reforms. To accomplish this, Pioneer has been taking active steps to make
its new group vision known to all employees. These steps have included conducting
discussion sessions to increase every department’s understanding of this vision. Fur-
thermore, employees have voluntarily held “off-site meetings” to discuss serious
topics in informal settings. By facilitating frank discussions between individuals with
different organizational affiliations or titles, these meetings have helped to make
employees take notice of things more carefully, by fostering new personal values and
awareness of problems. Through these and other initiatives, Pioneer is ensuring all
employees are on the same wavelength in order to expedite the reform process.
Revitalizing the Audio Business
Pioneer is making a company-wide effort to revitalize its audio business with the aim of
reestablishing a strong brand image in audio products and extending this image to
plasma display and other products. Pioneer has organized separate working groups to
discuss various themes, including improving sound quality, cooperating across organiza-
tional lines, enhancing brand image and defining requisites for premium audio products.
Establishing Brands in the Premium Audio Product Market
In April 2007, Pioneer launched TAD Reference One as a consumer-market
product under the TAD (Technical Audio Devices) speaker brand, which has
long been highly acclaimed by frontline professionals using cutting-edge
audio equipment at recording studios and other facilities. TAD Reference One
was developed by bringing together all of Pioneer’s audio technologies. With
this product as a foothold, Pioneer is working to become the frontrunner in
the premium audio product market.
Realigning the Speaker Business
Aiming to reinforce the Pioneer Group’s competitive edge in markets targeted
by the speaker business, Pioneer is conducting business realignment measures
encompassing subsidiary Tohoku Pioneer Corporation. By integrating the
speaker business of Pioneer and Tohoku Pioneer and realigning technology,
production and sales worldwide, we aim to revitalize the Pioneer Group’s
entire audio business.
