15. CONTINGENT LIABILITIES
The Company and its consolidated subsidiaries were contingently liable for notes and bills discounted of ¥753 million ($9,413 thousand)
and ¥519 million as of March 31, 2011 and 2010, respectively, and for those endorsed of ¥34 million as of March 31, 2010. The Company
and its consolidated subsidiaries were also contingently liable as guarantors of borrowings, primarily for housing loans to employees,
amounting to ¥176 million ($2,200 thousand) and ¥225 million, respectively, and secondly for borrowings from banks to subsidiaries,
amounting to ¥157 million ($1,963 thousand) and ¥1,081 million as of March 31, 2011 and 2010, respectively.
