Primarily containing pure
beta-tricalcium phosphate
(β-TCP), which can be
gradually absorbed and
replaced with real bone
inside the body, the
OSferion series also offers
a product lineup with
enhanced mechanical
strength and is easily
implanted by press-fitting
when necessary.

> Business Overview
With the aim of strengthening the Groups overall
position, Olympus engages in the creation of next-
generation businesses in the Others segment. As part
of such initiatives, the Company established Olympus
Business Creation Corp. in May 2010 to concentrate the
Groups management resources related to new business
creation.
Currently, Olympus Business Creation engages in such
businesses as medical waste recycling and regenerative
medicine, mainly in the area of biomedical materials. In
the regenerative medicine business, Olympus Business
Creation sells the OSferion artificial bone replacement
material and is pursuing next-generation health care,
such as in the wound healing field. For example, the
company entered into license agreement regarding the
development, manufacture and sales of cell growth fac-
tor, which is strongly related to the formulation of skin,
blood vessels, bones and cartilage
