SPECIAL FEATURE
The ongoing 2010 Corporate Strategic Plan (2010 CSP) is moving forward under the management slogan
Advancing to the Next Stage of Globalization and is aimed at accelerating the transformation of Olympus into
a more globally competitive company while strengthening its business presence in emerging markets. In 2015,
the final year of 2010 CSP, Olympus expects to achieve net sales of ¥1.5 trillion. The Medical Systems Business,
comprising the endoscopy and surgical and endotherapy device fields will serve as an engine for such growth.
Under the plan, Olympus has been developing its management environment with an eye toward moving to the
next stage; specifically, it has been pursuing innovative product development and business expansion through
M&A. Looking ahead, the Company is striving to expand the surgical and endotherapy device field to a size
equaling that of the endoscopy field; to develop devices and technologies that create new value; and to expand
its businesses in the Asian market. Backed by these efforts, Olympus aims to achieve net sales of ¥550 billion in
the Medical Systems Business in fiscal 2015 and ¥1 trillion in 2019 when the Company commemorates its 100th
anniversary—a level that will put it on par with the world’s top 10 medical equipment companies.
