20 OLYMPUS 2011
REVIEW OF OPERATIONS
1.
INTERCHANGEABLE LENS TYPE
DIGITAL SLR CAMERA
E-5
Enhancing even further the picture-tak-
ing quality of the E-3—itself highly trust-
ed by professional and semiprofessional
photographers—the E-5 reigns as the
top-end model in Olympus camera lineup
and incorporates such new functions as
HD movie and Art Filter functions.
IMAGING
SYSTEMS BUSINESS
> Business Overview
In the Imaging Systems Business, Olympus offers various
products for general consumers, including the E series
interchangeable lens type digital single-lens reflex (SLR)
camera based on the Four Thirds System; the new-
generation OLYMPUS PEN series interchangeable lens
system digital camera; compact digital cameras; and IC
recorders.
In digital cameras, Olympus is further concentrating
its capital expenditures on the development of prior art
and element technology for Micro Four Thirds System-
based products to consolidate the foundation of the
interchangeable lens system digital camera business.
Olympus will expand its global market share by boosting
its product planning capabilities, and will reconstruct
its business foundation by promptly improving its cost
structure.
