7. Segment reporting
The Group divides its business into three operating
segments in accordance with the types of products
and services provided:
Carrier Network
Develops and manufactures a wide range of
wireless networks, fixed networks, carrier
software and core networks, as well as services
solutions to telecommunications operators.
Enterprise Business
Develops integratable information and
communications technology (“ICT”) products
and solutions including enterprise network
infrastructure, cloud-based green data centers,
enterprise information security and unified
communication & collaboration, and delivers
these solutions to vertical industries such
as governments, public utilities, enterprises,
energy, power, transportation and finance.
Consumer Business
Develops and manufactures mobile broadband
devices, home devices, smartphones, as well as
the applications on these devices, and delivers
them to consumers and businesses.
The reportable segments are determined based on
the Group’s organization structure, management
requirement and reporting system.
Each reportable segment is managed separately
because each requires different technology and
marketing strategies. The financial information
of the different segments is regularly reviewed
by the Group’s management to make decisions
about resources to be allocated to the segment
and assess its performance.
