aboutthecostsitincurstoproducecathodesatitssmelting
operationsinSpain.Weusethismeasureforthesamepurpose
andformonitoringoperatingperformanceatAtlantic
Copper’ssmeltingoperations.Thisinformationdiffersfrom
measuresofperformancedeterminedinaccordancewith
generallyacceptedaccountingprinciplesandshouldnotbe
consideredinisolationorasasubstituteformeasures
ofperformancedeterminedinaccordancewithgenerally
acceptedaccountingprinciples.Othersmeltingcompanies
presentthismeasure,althoughAtlanticCopper’smeasuremay
notbecomparabletosimilarlytitledmeasuresreportedby
othercompanies.Thereconciliationbelowpresentsreported
productioncostsforoursmeltingandrefiningsegment
(AtlanticCopper)andsubtractsoraddscomponentsofthose
coststhatdonotdirectlyrelatetotheprocessofconverting
copperconcentratestocathodes.Theadjustedproduction
costsamountsareusedtocalculateAtlanticCopper’s
cathodecashunitcostperpoundofcopper(inthousands,
exceptperpoundamounts):

operationsinIndonesia.Weusethismeasureforthesame
purposeandformonitoringoperatingperformanceat
PTSmelting’ssmeltingoperations.Thisinformationdiffers
frommeasuresofperformancedeterminedinaccordance
withgenerallyacceptedaccountingprinciplesandshould
notbeconsideredinisolationorasasubstituteformeasures
ofperformancedeterminedinaccordancewithgenerally
acceptedaccountingprinciples.Othersmeltingcompanies
presentthismeasure,althoughPTSmelting’smeasuremay
notbecomparabletosimilarlytitledmeasuresreportedby
othercompanies.ThecalculationbelowpresentsPT
Smelting’sreportedoperatingcostsandsubtractsoradds
componentsofthosecoststhatdonotdirectlyrelateto
theprocessofconvertingcopperconcentratestocathodes.
