27. Subsequent Event
Reference is made to the discussion in Note 23 regarding actions and claims against the Company and its affiliates
relating to the sale of private placement interests in the Medical Capital and Provident Shale corporations. With respect to
potential resolution of such actions and claims subsequent to year-end, the Company has recognized an additional
provision of approximately $40 million in legal reserves, which is reflected in other liabilities on the Consolidated Balance
Sheets and correspondingly charged to general and administrative expense on the Consolidated Statements of Operations.
