We support employee growth and development through various
opportunities and systems.
With the aim of cultivating employees’ ability to
explainthephysicalpropertiesofeachsound,Alpinehas
held periodical acoustic training since 1995 for a total of
650participants.
Thistrainingconsistsofprimary,intermediate,and
advanced levels that increase employee knowledge
ofacousticsastheydevelop asenseofsoundquality.
Training focuses not only on the abstract and sensuous
qualitiesthatdeterminewhatlistenersjudgeasgood
andbad,orwhattheylikeordislike,butalsoonthe
quantificationofperceivedsound.Ouruniqueprograms
increase participants’ knowledge and sense of sound
quality,andimprovecommunicationcapability.
We certify those who excel in the programs as
Sound Masters who understand and pass down Alpine
soundtechnologytothenextgeneration.In2015,we
held12primaryleveltrainingsessionsandcertiedeight
participants.
Alpine dispatches entry and mid-level employees
to overseas subsidiaries and other organizations for a
period of one year to participate in on-site training as a
measure aimed at cultivating global talent. This system
was established to cultivate employees with a global
perspective and the ability to take action that reflects
anunderstandingofcultureandcustoms,andimprove
language proficiency through actual work and life
experience.In2015,wedispatched twoemployeesto
Thailand.
Alpine provides employee education in a broad
rangeoftechnicaldevelopment,fromthebasic
knowledge necessary for product development to
knowledgeinhighlyspecializedareas.In2015,we
provided60classeson31items,includingon-vehicle
securitysystems,LCDtechnology,functionalsafety,
automaticoperation,cloudelementaltechnology,basic
soundinstruction,andthermal designeducationfora
totalof1,470engineers.
Globalenvironmentalpreservationrequires broad
approachesnotonlybymanufacturers, butalsobythe
suppliers of parts and materials. Alpine asks all of our
suppliers to conform to our Green Procurement Standards
to promote environmentally-friendly material procurement.
In2015,we issuedthe12theditionoftheAlpine
Green Procurement Standards to enhance conformity to
laws and regulations.
■Green Procurement
Alpine enhances its partnerships with suppliers to
facilitate coexistence and co-prosperity through trusting
relationships. We invite suppliers to biannual briefing
sessionsinJapan,and
annual sessions in
China,NorthAmerica,
and Europe to explain
the current state of
production and sales as
well as announcing our
material procurement policy. We also present awards
to suppliers that have contributed to the improvement
ofquality,delivery,andcostreduction withthegoalof
building relationships built on trust.
■Communication with Suppliers
Alpine obtains materials throughout the world in
accordance with the Alpine Material Procurement Policy.
Alpine recognizes the necessity of promoting CSR not
onlyinitsbusinessactivities,butalsothroughoutits
entiresupplychain,andenhancingthefulfillmentof
social responsibility at each company in conforming to the
Supply-Chain Development Guidebook established by the
Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries
Association (JEITA). Alpine added content regarding
CSR in the Agreement with its suppliers to enhance its
approaches in 2015.

Human Resource Cultivation
Warring factions in the Democratic Republic of the
Congo and neighboring countries (9 countries including
the Republic of Rwanda) violate human rights through the
useofchildand forcedlabortominetin,goldandother
mineralsusedintheproductionofminormetals,and
profits from the sale of these minerals are used to fund
thepurchaseofweaponsandwidenconictinwaysthat
have a global impact.
The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer
ProtectionActpassedintheUnitedStatesin2010denes
thesemineralsas"conflictminerals,"1 and companies
listedonUSstockexchangesarerequiredtodisclose
informationtopreventtheuseofconictmineralsintheir
products.
Fromthestandpointofrespectinghumanrights,
Alpine understands and agrees with the intent of the
lawandpartnerswithgroupcompanies,suppliersand
JEITA to promote efforts aimed at pursuing responsible
approachestomaterialprocurement.In2015,we
surveyed each supplier about their response to conflict
minerals.
